Tasmania’s Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is set to reopen for new Registrations of Interest in the near future. The Australian Government has allocated Tasmania’s skilled nominated visa places for the 2024-25 program year, with a total of 2,860 nomination spots available.
Visa Allocation Breakdown
– Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa: 2,100 places
– Skilled Work Regional (subclass 491) visa: 760 places
This represents a significant increase from the previous year, with 1,500 additional places for the subclass 190 visa and 160 extra spots for the subclass 491 visa.
Processing of Existing Applications
Migration Tasmania will continue to process nomination applications that have already been lodged but not yet decided. These applications will be assessed based on the requirements in place at the time of submission. If approved, applicants will receive their nomination through SkillSelect.
Subclass 491 Applicants Seeking Subclass 190 Nomination
For those who have applied for subclass 491 nomination but wish to be considered for subclass 190 instead, the process is as follows:
1. Withdraw the current subclass 491 application
2. Register for subclass 190 when the 2024-25 program opens
3. Await a new invitation to apply for subclass 190 nomination
It’s important to note that receiving an invitation for subclass 190 will depend on the level of interest and the number of pro-rata places available at the time.
Looking Ahead
The reopening of Tasmania’s Skilled Migration State Nomination Program presents new opportunities for prospective skilled migrants. With the increased allocation of nomination places, Tasmania is poised to welcome more skilled professionals to contribute to its workforce and economy in the coming year.
